Berni and Howard welcome you to Barkly Cottages Benalla located in the wine and high country in regional Victoria.  Benalla is approximately a two hour drive from Melbourne.  Our fully self contained one bedroom accommodation is located within a short walk to all facilities.   

Our historical cottage was built circa 1900 with 3.7 m high ceilings and is ideal for couples looking for a comfortable self contained home away from home. 

Why stay in a Benalla Motel when you can enjoy the peace and privacy that motels rarely afford. Barkly Cottages Benalla has many advantages when compared to staying in one of the Benalla Motels.

For one, we are located in a quiet street in central Benalla within a short stroll to all local facilities including local restaurants, hotels and supermarkets.

Secondly motels can be crowded and at peak times of the year Benalla motels are busy and can be noisy with visitors arriving and leaving at all hours.

Benalla is situated in the Wine and High Country approximately two hours on the Hume Highway from Melbourne.  Our lovely township is perfectly located as a base to explore local wineries and the Ned Kelly Trail. 

Discover our local attractions including the Rose Garden and Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop Memorial.  Enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake and a cup of coffee in fabulous surroundings in the Benalla Art Gallery. 

How about visiting the Benalla Gliding Club and taking that gliding lesson?  Benalla is renowned world wide for its excellent gliding conditions.  Our cottage accommodation is also ideally located for glider pilots.

Interested in cars?  Our cottage is located within a short drive to Winton Motor Raceway which regularly holds events for various car clubs and is part of the national racing circuit.

Prefer to have a relaxing evening at home after exploring rather than dine at one of the many local dining venues? Prepare your own meals in the cottage's fully equipped kitchen or have a barbeque outside in the back yard.  Watch your favourite blue ray DVD in the spacious lounge room on the large 42" flat screen digital TV.  Afterwards enjoy a great night's sleep on the queen size bed in the roomy bedroom.
